7th Annual AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building

The general public, motorcyclists, and motorcycle industry leaders will enjoy another one-time-only viewing of superb custom motorcycle design, engineering and craftsmanship from around the world at the 7th annual AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building.

Located at Lazelle and 3rd in Sturgis, it is open and free to the public August 8-11, 2010 (Sunday through Wednesday) from 10:00am to 6:00pm daily, with the awards ceremony on Wednesday at 3:00pm. This year’s event is also being webcast live on www.amdchampionship.com.

The World Championship is an open entry competition granting any builder in the world the opportunity to compete for the industry’s top honor against many of the year’s finest custom motorcycle builds and customized Harley-Davidsons.

While the collection of bikes and builders evolves every year, one constant is what the builders’ experience when they are chosen by fellow competitors to be the World Champion – the acknowledgement of their work by their industry colleagues from around the world.

The World Championship final at Sturgis each year is the culmination of a year-long series of Affiliate bike competitions staged in some 15 different countries, and where the best from outside the United States comes to be measured up against the best from the United States. Affiliate events are staged in Austria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Spain, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, and it is the prestige of the prospect of being able to compete at the spiritual home of custom motorcycling that drives the program.

Harley-Davidson is one of the worldwide sponsors of the World Championship and is operating its 2010 Rally HQ from the same Lazelle/3rd lot. This year will also see custom Harley-Davidsons from North America and Europe, including the winner of this year’s European H.O.G. Rally in Switzerland a few weeks ago, competing for top honors in a Harley backed Modified Harley-Davidson Class that promotes factory motorcycle platform customizing.

In addition to Harley-Davidson and Screamin’ Eagle, sponsoring Partners from the motorcycle industry that help make this unique event and the year-round global series possible include: ACCEL Motorcycle Products, Arlen Ness Enterprises, Big Dog Motorcycles, Black Hills Harley-Davidson, Crane Cams, Flathead Power,  J&P Cycles, K&N Filters, Kibblewhite Precision Machining, Kustomwerks, Motorcycle Storehouse, Ride Wright Wheels, Rivera Primo, and S&S Cycle.

Area businesses supplying products and services for the event include: Best Buy Store #861, Bierschbach Equipment & Supply, Epic Outdoor Advertising, Legacy Jewelers, Lynn’s Dakotamart, Midwest Marketing LLC, Tom’s T’s, and Vanway Trophy & Award, Inc.

The World Championship program is owned and operated by the owners and co-publishers of American Motorcycle Dealer (AMD) Magazine, the only specialty v-twin business-to-business magazine that is direct mailed in print free (and available online) every month to v-twin industry decision makers and dealers worldwide.
