Darrel Killion of Madison is among 10 people appointed to a Motorcyclist Advisory Council for the Federal Highway Administration. He was recommended to hold one of the two seats reserved for members of State Motorcyclists' organizations.
Killion is coordinator for ABATE of South Dakota. "It's a good thing for us to get involved with," Killion said, referring to ABATE. "Since South Dakota holds the largest motorcycle rally in the world, we figured we had something to contribute."

The 2006 AMA/FIM International Women & Motorcycling Conference presented by Harley-Davidson & Buell, which was held June 30 through July 3 in Athens, Georgia, drew 915 attendees from the U.S. and seven other countries. The 23-minute DVD is divided into five segments encompassing the major aspects of the conference: Overview, People, Demo Rides, Riding Skills and Vendors.

ABATE wins court round against state raiding special funds in Illinois

A Sangamon County judge extended a court order that blocks state government from transferring about $344,000 out of two special-purpose funds and into the state's checkbook account. The move by Circuit Judge Leo Zappa was the latest development in a lawsuit that ABATE, an organization representing motorcycle enthusiasts, filed last month against Gov. Rod Blagojevich, Comptroller Dan Hynes and Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka.
