Headbanger Motor Company among the great brands at EICMA Custom

With EICMA Custom, The Milan International Motorcycle Show opens its doors to the world of custom motorcycles. Among the models created as one-of-a-kind specimens, there are several by an Italian brand which debuted on the market only recently but has already made a name for itself among custom fans.

Headbanger Motor Company was born of a dream: to build motorbikes that would capture the allure of the great American tradition and customized workmanship, and, while featuring simple and straightforward construction (no electronics; carburettor fuel feed), would be 100% street legal and Euro 3 compliant. Today, Headbanger is a well-established reality, headquartered in Milan and a member of Confindustria ANCMA. Its production plant in Rovato (BS) uses artisan techniques to manufacture a wide range of models, all of them fully custom and combining the best U.S. made V-Twin engines with the quality, style and flavour of products made in Italy.

This new custom concept was conceived by Giorgio Sandi, who joined forces with Luciano Andreoli to make his dream come true. “Today, custom bikes are made according to two basic approaches, – points out Sandi – one is to start with a production motorcycle and modifying it to a greater or lesser extent; the other is to build a unique model starting from scratch. Both solutions have obvious limitations, to do with homologation and cost constraints, and there’s always the risk of having your model turned down by the administrative authority. "

“Headbanger – Sandi goes on to say – is something else entirely: we have chosen a different approach. Our company makes motorcycle models according to the quality standards and the criteria of industrial production, but with all the care that goes into handwork, our models are custom through and through. In this manner, our customers can make full use of Headbanger’s specs, which provide for countless customisation options and may be seen as a veritable breakthrough in this sector. Our homologation forms, in fact, make it possible to fit a wide range of engines, wheels, handlebars and controls to every model, and to supply our products with a 24-month warranty. The unique models proposed by Headbanger target precisely the motorcycling enthusiasts and their desire to have a motorbike like no other and yet homologated for on-road use. Our motorcycles are unique, original and intended for knowledgeable customers who can make their selection wisely from among the countless possibilities available, to give life to a fully personalised bike of their own.”

The 2011 Headbanger range includes four exclusive models: the Hollister bobber, the High Flyin’ muscle-bike, the eclectic Foxy Lady, and Gypsy Soul, an Old School model that was unveiled at EICMA 2010, reflecting the interest of this brand in an international event. All Headbanger models use a softail frame designed by Headbanger, and are customised, starting, upon receipt of the order, from a choice of seven V-Twin engines, sized from 88 to 121 cubic inches (1450-2000 cc). But many other components can be customised, including the tank, the paintwork, the wheels and tyres available in various sizes. All the components are homologated and their dimensions are stated in the booklet. Headbanger custom bikes are 100% street legal!

As is the case with every brand reflecting a clearly defined life style, Headbanger is not only about motorcycles, as the company also proposes a rich collection of accessories and a highly refined line-up of apparel produced in limited editions. Recent additions to the product range include the Headbanger Genuine Oil, a lubricant specially designed for V-Twin engines new and old, and Old School Ale, beer than comes in two versions - Soft and Strong – to meet the taste of the most demanding bikers.

At the EICMA 2011 Show, on Tuesday 8 November, at 5:00 p.m., Headbanger will present to the press its 2012 range, featuring many new details, new colours and graphic options, as well as new models and a wealth of surprises. The rendezvous with Headbanger and EICMA Custom is in pavilion 2 of Fiera Milano, from 8 to 13 November.
