The thrill of mountain roads is legendary for bikers – winding expanses, little traffic, and breathtaking views along the way … Sound tempting? Well read on …..
Hidden away in the deepest recesses of Andalucia are many mountain ranges, including the beautiful Sierra Subbética in the province of Córdoba just an hour from Málaga airport.
Peppered with beautiful white villages and the open road linking them together, you can hurtle through the olive groves, gorges and mountains finding hidden away villages like Zuheros, Cabra and the exquisite Iznájar – villages that will take your breath away both for their incredible scenery and windy cobbled streets.
It’s a part of the world that time forgot – donkeys still treated as pack animals, bars open for a beer at breakfast, markets selling local produce on a daily basis and the sun guaranteed for hundreds of hours each year!
There are many places to stay in the Sierra Subbética mountains – from posh hotels through to gorgeous B&Bs, all offering a great value service and most having lockable garages for your bikes which can be easily hired near to Málaga airport unless you fancy hurtling down from Santander’s boat to see the treasures of Córdoba.
Casa La Celada is one such lovely B&B Guest House just 3km from Iznájar Lake offering local produce and a luxurious home from home villa to rest, soak up the rays in the hot tub and wander out to the local restaurants by the Lake’s gorgeous beach.
And re the nitty gritty, unless you want to whizz down on your own bike, motorbike hire is simple with the wherewithal of Google – there are literally dozens of reputable bike hire companies in and around Málaga airport, many of which are English.
