Here is the story! The crash happened Fri 2nd near Denver, Colorado. Cody Knight was traveling northbound on Kipling St. when a truck turned left in front of him onto 20th. Cody lost consciousness at the time of impact. Once at the hospital he waited over 3 hours for his mother to arrive and then he died. He never regained consciousness.
Cody was 24 yrs of age and was enjoying his riding season. He was riding his mother’s Honda 600, which she owned for at least 18 yrs.
The driver of the truck was a male from Minnesota that is in Denver doing work for his brother. He is a long time MC Enthusiast and as you can imagine, devastated.
Services for the celebration of Cody’s life are being held Friday, 9/9/11, at Bear Creek Lake near C470 and Morrison Rd.
A MC procession will leave Carol Knight’s home at 3 pm located at 11285 W. 46th Ave., Wheatridge, CO 80033
The ride will go through the crash site and end at the park. Any one who rides is encouraged to attend.
All vehicles arriving at the park need to tell the gate they are there for the service and the park fee of $8.00 will be waived. We are asking cars to arrive between 4 and 4;30
There will be 5 bands hosted by Ky Turner of the Sunday night Blues show on 103.5 the FOX.
Main meal is provided, but we are asking folks to bring side dishes and deserts.
Message from Cody’s family:
Our hope is that Cody’s death will not be seen as something that creates fear in the hearts of all those who ride, but more public awareness of the presence of riders in our beautiful state. During a conversation with CDOTs MOST safety project manager Paul Peterson, he stated that 98% of the crashes he sees on his desk are due to this very circumstance: left hand turns in intersection in which the driver just does not see the rider. Drivers need to be more aware of the huge presence of motorcycles in Colorado. This could happen to anyone at anytime and could happen to someone you love who rides. Cody will be missed dearly by all who knew him. Ride on brother...Ride free....Forever!!
LOOK TWICE SAVE A LIFE MOTORCYCLES ARE EVERYWHERE!!!!!
