Panoptx Whirlwind CV Gray Tortoise SunglassesApril 3, 2009
Panoptx Whirlwind CV (convertible) Tortoise Sunglasses with Color Tec Gray Lenses provide excellent protection for the most critical of the senses when it comes to operating a motorcycle. The user’s eyes are protected from sun, fatigue, wind, rain, and dust for safe motorcycling.
Safe motorcycling is contingent upon having a clear line of sight at all times and the Whirlwind CV Gray Tortoise Sunglasses provide the protection required.
First Impression
Panoptx Whirlwind CV Gray Tortoise Sunglasse’s frames are bold and fashionable. The frame color is a variable gray with dark parallel lines similar to a wood grain. The parallel lines are subtle yet profound, and the combination creates a fashionable look.
Hinges are reinforced with a thin, metal plate that is central to the temples near the hinge. This chrome addition is attractively placed and breaks up the monotony of the wide plastic temple.
These glasses are for anyone involved in activities where eyes are exposed to the sun, dust, rain, wind, and glare at high speeds.
Design and Features
Lenses: All Panoptx lenses are optically correct, de-centered and tapered to ensure a clear, crisp image in every direction. These lenses are made of high-impact resistant or shatterproof (PureTec™ in NXT™) materials with 100% UV protection. Impact resistant lenses alone might be the flagship feature of the Panotix lineup of model options.
The Color Tec Gray Lenses highlight primary colors while improving contrast. The lenses are anti-fog treated. See www.panoptx.com for complete detail of series, styles, features and pricing, including custom prescription lenses.
Frames: The Whirlwind Frame is designed to fit snugly around the user’s face so that the frame will remain stable regardless of environmental conditions. The frame material is a composite nylon in a wrap design, offering enhanced peripheral vision, impact resistance, and comfort. The frame is light-weight and durable.
The Velocity Series, including the Panoptx Whirlwind CV Gray Tortoise, comes with a removable eyecup. When installed, this “Orbital Seal” eyecup contours around your eyes to block the transfer of elements from the atmosphere to your eyes. The eyecup has foam-lined vents to allow filtered air to circulate inside the eyecup so the user’s eyes can breathe in an environment that is free of harmful airborne irritants.
The removable eyecup may also come in handy when activities change from high speed to something less intense; e.g., lunch on the veranda or people watching at your favorite motorcycle rally. The primary benefit of using the sunglasses without the eyecup is that they are a little lighter and cooler while they appear more casual.
Application
When you first wear the Panoptx sunglasses, you will find the visual field and clarity to be remarkable. When cared for properly, clarity and visual field provided by the Whirlwind CV Tortoise Sunglasses is always something you can count on. Temples are shaped to fit gently against your head behind your ear.
These sunglasses are very comfortable, especially for user’s eyes, and it is evident that they are stable and will not flop around. There is minimal stress on eyes due to glare, wind, sun, dust, rain, or any other environmental elements. There is an added benefit for contact lens wearers. You will not need to worry about your eyes drying out and/or dust under your contact lens. My experience tells me it won’t happen!
I have learned to carry my Panoptx with me at all times to provide relief from the elements. On those occasions during rain or dusty conditions, I reach for my Panoptx sunglasses and again feel confident that I can see the road ahead. Panoptx model Whirlwind CV Gray Tortoise retails for $149.00. Models, options, and prices may be researched at www.panoptx.com. My expectation is that these sunglasses will be useful for a long time and holdup under the use for which they are designed. The Whirlwind CV Gray Tortoise may not be for everyone. The fashion conscious will want to assure this model to be the best fit and color for them. Once satisfied that the Whirlwind CV Gray Tortoise is the right model, the user will be very happy with the performance of these sunglasses. Final Comment
Panoptx Whirlwind CV Gray Tortoise Sunglasses create an optical environment where the user’s eyes are not impacted by changing atmospheric conditions and challenges. These motorcycle sunglasses are built to face into the wind and other elements. When potentially harmful conditions or visual challenges arise, the user can confidently reach for a pair of Panoptx eyewear and continue the trip with visibility intact.
These sunglasses are virtually indestructible. In the event that there is a problem with materials or manufacturing, Panoptx eyewear is warranted for one year from the date of purchase. The company will repair or replace at its discretion.
The lenses are not warranted against scratches. However, detailed instructions including videos for care and maintenance are available on the Panoptx website. Panoptx sunglasses will perform as expected and hoped when they are cared for according to guidelines set forth by the company.
I have completed several Iron Butt (Saddlesore 1000) rides and numerous long distance trips and find it is essential to take Panoptx sunglasses with me.
Have a pair on hand for the worst conditions. Give us your feedback:
