EmpireCovers.com VIPS Cover for motorcyclesJuly 7, 2011
Introduction…
EmpireCover.com’s VIPS motorcycle cover is a 100% waterproof two-piece cover system. The bottom part of the cover is a strong material (100% Polyester) on which you park your motorcycle. The top part of the cover (also 100% Polyester) is strapped to the bottom for protection from elements. The top cover has two layers, combining advanced weather and heat resistant material to prevent hot engine damage. The cover for this review was made available by EmpireCovers.com. First Impression… This cover will get the job done! Rain, dust and dirt, snow, hail, and sun are the nemeses of motorcycles and motorcyclists who want to keep their ride in pristine condition. Empire covers may be the answer. Heavy enough to withstand the elements listed above including wind, light enough to strap onto your bike to carry along, strong enough to stay where you put it when installed on your bike, and made of materials that will last for a long time. Operation…
The V.I.P.S. Empire Cover we worked with for this review was large enough to totally cover the bike with room to spare. Every EmpireCover.com motorcycle cover is backed by their “Fit Guarantee;” If your cover doesn't fit, the company will exchange it for the right size! We consulted with EmpireCover.com officials to be sure they would ship a cover large enough to cover an H-D Ultra. Not the largest bike on the market, but a pretty good size motorcycle. So we started with a large cover. To install the cover, we spread the bottom portion of the cover flat on a flat surface (in this case concrete), then drove the bike onto the cover and parked it. We discovered there to be a reinforced panel precisely where the kickstand dropped down as shown in the photo below. Now the remainder of this process is a little like wrapping a Christmas gift. Begin by raising the edges and attach from side to side with three straps and quick buckles. On each of the four corners is a drawstring. When the bottom part of the cover is securely attached, it creates a snug fit around the perimeter of the motorcycle. The accompanying photo will help visualize what this looks like. Then throw the top part over your bike and carefully work it around and down over the fairing, handlebars, mirrors, and rear antennas. Connect the two parts together with the exterior straps and buckles. Elastic is sewn into the front and rear hem of the top part of the cover and helps secure and hold the top section in place. This is all there is to it. The cover protects a motorcycle from rain, dust and dirt, snow, hail, and sun.
