Cycle Wipes leave motorcycles' soft surfaces clean without scratchesJanuary 25, 2012
Introduction Cycle Wipes are disposable cleaning wipes for cleaning the “soft” surfaces on your motorcycle. The are made from an ultra soft, pre-moistened, non-abrasive fabric sheet that gently removes stubborn bugs, dust, and grime from your visor, face shield, Plexiglas windscreen, eyeglasses and other delicate surfaces. Why do Cycle Wipes work?
The multi-purpose, non-woven, wet wipe fabric is designed for motorcycle riders who want gentle cleaning and removal of bug guts and road grime from motorcycle helmets, visors, face shields, and windshields. Cycle Wipes are also great for cleaning bug-blasted headlights and turn signals. Do you know a motorcyclist that does not want to provide the best care of the surface of his or her motorcycle? Actually I do know of several, but this review is for the other 99.9 percent who want to clean without leaving surface scratches. First Impression
Cycle Wipes are made up of a fabric and a cleaning solution that is the perfect choice when it comes to effective bug and dirt removal. In addition to the brilliant colored goo that bugs leave on your windscreen or face shield, bugs also leave a hard shell called a carapace, which can be harder than plastic itself. That’s why plastic gets scratched as you carelessly remove their mortal remains. Don’t drag the carapace across the plastic or you’ll leave visible gouges. To prevent scratches always use a well-moistened cloth. Never scrub or scour – you’ll only damage the plastic. The cloth should be “porus” enough that the gooey bits and hard carapace are captured by the cloth mesh and lifted away from the plastic surface. This is where Cycle Wipes function at their best! Features
The Cycle Wipes formula includes water and isopropyl alcohol which easily dissolve dirt, grime, and bug carcasses. It's ammonia-free so it’s safe to use on any plastic lens surface.
Operation/Application
Cycle Wipes are an easy way to clean your motorcycle helmets visor, face shield, and other “soft” surfaces. To use Cycle Wipes, simply peel back the re-sealable label, remove a wet wipe, and close the label to retain moisture. Wipe vertically to clean surfaces, then refold and re-clean as needed. A used wipe can be used to clean headlights and turn signals. You may need to buff after cleaning. Cycle Wipes inventor Dave Swezey cleans a visor while riding the deserts of central Oregon. Dave's an avid BMW off-road enthusiast and works as the GM of a large motorcycle dealership in Seattle. He offers this cleaning tip… “When cleaning plastic always wipe up-and-down, not side-to-side. Why is that? Micro scratches can (and will) happen over time, no matter how carefully you clean the lens. Vertical scratches are easy for the eye to ‘ignore’, and for the most part they're pretty much invisible. But horizontal scratches are ‘tracked’ by the eye and quickly become a major distraction, affecting vision and safety. Value
You'll find Cycle Wipes useful for quick clean-ups of your lights, turn signals, and anywhere else that gets blasted by bugs! Cycle Wipes are:
