Email information for Rescue Tape by Harbor Products, Inc.

Rescue Tape® is a silicone tape that motorcyclists will want to include in their tool/safety kit for their most remote adventures due to the tapes adaptability to multiple situations and problems. Rescue Tape is self-bonding and uses no adhesive.  When stretched and wrapped under tension, the tape bonds to itself, creating a permanent air-tight, water-tight seal that is resistant to oils, fuels, acids, solvents, salt water, road salt and UV rays.

According to the manufacture, the tape will withstand pressures up to 700 psi, resist temperatures up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit and resist up to 8,000 volts per layer.

It can temporarily repair hoses, fuel lines, exhaust pipes, or just about anything that you can wrap it around, and it even works over wet, dirty or oily surfaces. When removed, it leaves no sticky residue.

Application:
Harbor Products, Inc., identifies multiple uses for this tape. Examples are; hose repair, electrical insulation and wiring harness, sealing electrical connections, and too protect battery cables. Basically, when applied according to the Companies directives, the tape will work on just about anything that you can wrap it around. Wet, dirty or oily surfaces do not mitigate the Tape’s functionality as long as the tape can maintain contact with itself.

For a creative user, the tape may also be used temporarily in conjunction with various medical bandages and procedures. This writer suggests that after purchasing the tape and becoming familiar with its application characteristics, you brainstorm with a reliable first aid source to explore ways to use the tape in case of injury.

When applying Rescue Tape®, wrap tape around an object by stretching and overlapping it onto itself. Continue wrapping by overlapping 50% onto itself so that ½ the width is covered with the next wrap. The first and last wrap should completely overlap onto the previous wrap for a complete bond. Additional layers may be necessary, and the same process should be used over the previous layers. For high pressure leaks, stretch to maximum amount. A tighter wrap will result in a quicker and stronger the bond. Rescue Tape® works on either side.

Features:
Rescue Tape® is a silicone product, which causes it to permanently bond to itself when stretched and brought into contact with itself. Most notable is the strength of the Rescue Tape®. Under most conditions and uses, the tape will not tear. Even when exposed to a shape edge or corner, it is not likely tear or break apart. Of course, the user will be able to cut it with a knife or scissors.
The Tape will bond to itself in a matter of seconds and should not be repositioned after that time.
According to Harbor Products, Inc., only the purest and highest quality ingredients are used.  The quality is immediately observable by the amazingly fast fusing time, strength and durability.  Rescue Tape® significantly exceeds the military specification set forth for silicone tape.  No other tape on the market can fuse as quickly, and endure as much as Rescue Tape!

Quality and Value:
Rescue Tape® comes packaged in a 2-pack, containing 1 White roll & 1 Black Roll for $24.99. Each additional roll is just $6.99 - You choose the colors: Black, Red, Clear, White, Yellow, Blue, Green!

Twenty-five dollars plus shipping charges may seem pretty expensive for something you may never use. However, this tape can replace many other spare items that are usually recommended for a motorcycle adventure or that may be recommended for emergencies: e.g., electrical tape, bolts, wire, some first aid items, etc. In addition, this Tape will perform where other items may not and it is very user friendly and flexible where the items listed are for very specific use. Notably, Rescue Tape® properties are not compromised by heat and other elements mentioned earlier.

Final Thoughts:
When I take off on my motorcycle, the last thing I want to think about is what will go wrong. I take pride in planning ahead and preventative maintenance. I carry a tool kit and first aid kit and I assume the contents to be in good working order.

If you are like me, you have grabbed a flashlight or camera in a time of need, only to discover the batteries are either dead or on their last leg.

The point is; if something can go wrong, it probably will at some point or another during your motorcycle life. At a time of need, you want to be able to rely on your preparation and ingenuity. My recommendation is, don’t leave home with out Rescue Tape®. It has many uses, including some that would be difficult to anticipate.  It is strong, takes up very little room, has an indefinite shelf life, and it is versatile.  The tape just may come in handy!
