Email information for Iridium Pulstar Pulse Plugs for motorcycles

Pulse plugs are the first real breakthrough in spark plug technology in 120 years.  Look and fit is the same, but these plugs contain an integrated device called a capacitor.

The capacitor peaks the energy of the spark in much the same way that a camera flash intensifies light. Instead of just 50 watts of peak power typical of all spark plugs, pulse plugs generate up to 1 million Watts of ignition Pulsed Power.  The resulting robust spark ignites fuel more efficiently liberating more torque from the engine.

Pulstar® pulse plugs are designed and tested to be direct replacements for spark plugs. With engine control unit (ECU or computer) it is recommended that the negative cable be removed from the battery during installation so that it will reset and recognize the improved ignition performance and adjust for maximum benefit as soon as practical. Even if the computer is not reset, after a couple of tanks of fuel (or a few hundred miles of driving) the computer will recognize the improvement and adjust accordingly.

Pulstar claims that certified testing shows that pulse plugs deliver these benefits when compared to spark plugs:
  • Greater engine torque – up to 9%
  • Greater horsepower – up to 7%
  • Quicker throttle response
  • Better fuel economy – up to 10%
  • Lower emissions – across the board reductions
  • Smoother operation
  • Enhanced driving experience
  • Easier starting
Features of Pulstar® plugs include:
  • Over 1 million watts of ignition power
  • Over 1000 amps of discharge current
  • Energy-dense spark resilient to over 100M/sec squish velocity
  • Flame front propagation more than twice as fast as conventional iridium spark plugs
  • Precise ignition relative to crank angle
  • More complete combustion
  • Over 50% reduction in cycle-to-cycle variation in combustion pressures
  • Plug and Play..no modifications/adjustments necessary, this includes timing

Value: We are always discreet when addressing the issue of cost because of the personal nature of budgets and finances.  A set of Pulstar Plugs Model number he1it costs, $35.00.  At 10% savings, fuel economy alone will offset any additional cost based on average annual mileage of 1850 miles at 40 miles per gallon.  Obviously some bikes achieve greater and some less mpg.

Also, these plugs are designed and tested to provide 100,000 miles of service.  We think this is a great alternative for motorcycle applications!

About Enerpulse, the company that manufactures Pulstar Plugs:  Enerpulse is headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico where they develop environmentally friendly ignition products through the application of Pulsed Power Technology (PPT). With the assistance of Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, Pulstar® was designed to increase the peak power of the spark plug so it could ignite gasoline in the engine's cylinder more completely, with less cycle-to-cycle variation. Pulstar's extra power ignites fuel more completely, transforming your car into a more fuel-efficient vehicle that is a lot more fun to drive.
