Willie & Max TT511 Gray Thunder Studded Max-Pax Tour TrunkApril 3, 2009
This Tour Trunk is made to go the distance. The design and manufacturing process takes into consideration the hard use that a motorcycle trunk will absorb due to rain, wind, sunlight, and dirt. Also, as you can see, the tour trunk looks good.
Application:
The Gray Thunder Studded Max-Pax is made of high tech synthetic leather. This material is strong enough to anchor the trunk to your motorcycle, and it will stay where you put it if anchored properly. In other words, the structure and materials used in the manufacturing process will withstand the rigors of attaching the trunk to your motorcycle, so it will stay where you anchor it while maintaining its structural shape.
The Max-Pax requires a sissy bar and luggage rack for proper mounting and comes with a two-inch hook and loop strap, four laces and a bungee cord.
To anchor the tour pack, attach the hook and loop strap securely around the sissy bar and tie the laces through four web tabs to the luggage rack. The bungee cord may be applied by hooking one end to one side of the luggage rack, drawing it over the Max-Pax, and then hooking the other end to the opposite side of the luggage rack.
The Max-Pax provides 1,235 cubic inches of load space with a recommended weight load of 10 lbs. Once you have loaded the Max-Pax, secured it to your motorcycle, closed and latched the quick buckles, you are ready to ride.
Features:
· Hightech Synthetic leather – heavy duty
· Mounting system including; hook and loop strap, bungee cord and laces
· Quick release buckles with locking feature and key
· 13”x 9.5”x10” = 1,234 cubic inches of packing space

· Gray base with black overlay creates double strength closure and enhanced appearance.
· An 11” x 36.5” heavy plastic insert to maintain structural shape
· PVC coating on all synthetic material
· Decorative eagle emblem
Quality and Value:
The Max-Pax is a high quality tour pack. Materials and workmanship are consistent with requirements of motorcycle touring. Joints are stitched together with nylon thread and every indication is that the joints will withstand years of repeated use.
At 1,234 cubic inches, the Max-Pax is just a little small. A rain suit, a change of clothing, a toiletry bag and tool kit will fill it. This is neither good nor bad, it’s just a fact.
The manufacturer provides a “lifetime of the biker” warranty, which covers parts, materials and workmanship for as long as the bag is in the possession of original owner.
Final Thoughts: The Max-Pax is a very good quality tour pack. It is well constructed utilizing heavy duty and strong materials. The tour pack is sturdy so that if it came loose from your motorcycle and hits the highway, it most likely would stay closed and all soft contents like clothing would be protected. We like the design which, along with identical saddle bags, makes a very attractive and reliable luggage system.
Securing the Max-Pax onto your motorcycle may present a challenge for some luggage racks due to their size. However the Max-Pack’s strength of design and materials may provide the user with opportunities to overcome these challenges in ways that other soft tour packs may not. The Max-Pax will hold its shape when packed. Click here for more information.
